When I mentioned to people that I was watching The Shawshank Redemption they said that I was really lucky. Now I see why.I love this movie! I belive it to be fantastic. I want to be like Morgan Freemans character, "Red". I didn't really care much for Tim Robbins. His acting was good and all but theres just something about him that I don't really like. I was really sad to see "Brooks" die. The guy in the shower was too creepy. But over all I think that Shawshank Redemption is definitly a classic and will be watched and loved for many years to come.
CASABLANCA
I love this movie and everything about it. I love the way they talk,how their voices sound. Sammy is my favorite character. I like the story line and it dosn't hurt that the movie is in black and white. Rain or no rain this movie is great.
On the waterfont
On the waterfront was fun to watch for me. Like in Casablanca I enjoyed how the movie was in black and white. I loved the script and the way the lines were deliverd from each of the actors. It is interesting to see what the actors added to the roles they were assigned and how each of the characters seemed to have good chemestry with eachother.
The Graduate.
I liked it because of the script and the actors. I definetly plan on seeing this movie fom the start and then extending this review.. To be continued ...maybe...
China Town
Jack Nicholson was great in this movie. I liked how it was a serious movie but the script allowed for comedy in certian parts, which is something Jack does well. I liked how you didn't know what was going to happen untill it happend and all the plot twists. You couldn't really miss more than a few minutes of this moive or you'll miss an important peice of information. I really like how the movie ended. I liked it because you got to see how crazy her father was and how far he would go to keep his secret. It also left me wanting to know what happed next.
Do the right thing
This movie brought out all the things people do when they profile other people by race or let prejudice control their lives. While this is a serious and for some painful topic, It is brought about in a comical way. For instance, my favorite character in the movie was Da Mayor. He was really funny and at the same time he delivers some of the most improtant and meaningful line in the movie. I like all the symbolism that resinated througout the film. Like when Buggin(or whatever his name is) is complaining about Sals and on the wall behind him it says "The Peoples Mohamed". I like to look for small things like that in a movie and there were pleanty in this one. I cant say that I liked the ending but I understood it. It made me mad that Radio Rahem had to die and that the fight/riot even happend. I relize that no one will stand up in the middle of a big conferentation and say something. Something like, hey why are yelling right now? Im right infront of you just tell me what your issue is and well talk about it. But honestly, why did they even let things get that far? I think that everyone was just so fed up with all the racism around them and constantly keeping their guard up against people who they think will make racial comments about them or something along those lines that when Radio Rahem refused to turn down the music it was just "the straw the broke the cammels back"(pardon the phrase). In a way I think that Sal was the victem in that whole sinario. The only thing he wanted was the music turned down so that he could hear and understand what was going on. As far as the shattering of the boom box, everyone gets to a point when they get frustreated enough they end up snapping. I dont believe the death of Radio Rahem should be blamed on Sal. The police officer had no reason to do what he did. Restraining a "suspect" when necessary is under standable but this guy straight up murdered an innocent man. If you belive it was because if his race I guess you could look at it as a lynching of some sort. Over all I enjoyed the movie and I appreciated that it had such a powerful messege.
